Songwriting Workshop With Melissa Greener

  • Location: Near Lissadell, Sligo
  • Date: 28th October

Cost: 50.00

The workshop will start at 1pm and run for 4 hours at cost of €50, with a possibility of the individual private workshops between 6pm and 9pm. Workshop spaces are limited to 12, very early booking recommended. For all booking enquiries please contact Dickon Whitehead by email at dickonwhitehead@gmail.com Melissa Greener will be performing at Sligo Live on Saturday 27th October playing before The Boomtown Rats.

Melissa’s workshop approach: “My primary aim is consistent; to engage conversation of the ways in which songwriting can most effectively convey deep connection, expression and communion with the listener and with oneself in their own writing. We’ll look at the basics of songwriting structure, poetic devices, performance techniques (dynamics, phrasing, etc..), and more.” Participants may bring a song-in-progress for group commentary and discussion. Bring printed lyric sheets for this purpose. This is not the place to bring polished, finished, or already recorded songs for show-and-tell. This is a working environment not a performance. This group setting song-sharing is a safe, non-judgemental, encouraging space to support each other in reaching beyond our current best abilities. “Greener paints superb portraits of the human condition” – Maverick Music Magazine “Beautifully symmetric work, that makes writing songs look like painting.” – Alt Country Forum “A glorious, utterly distinctive voice, an accomplished guitarist and an arresting songwriter.” – Acoustic Guitar Magazine”
