Presenting Your Work and Your Practice to an Audience with Declan Drohan

Do you get nervous when you have to perform or present your work in front of a live audience or group of peers? Would you like to be able to present yourself and communicate your work with more confidence and clarity?

 Whether delivering a workshop, presenting your work to your peers or performing in front of a live audience, clarity and control over material, train of thought and the ability to guide an audience is fundamentally important. On both live and on digital platforms, artists can feel overwhelmed and challenged when they come face to face with an audience and focus can slip away as soon as one becomes self- conscious.

In this 90 minute online workshop which is back by popular demand theatre practitioner Declan Drohan will offer an introduction to some of the dynamic principles of the Michael Chekhov Technique, and will provide you with useful tools to offset any stumbling blocks you may encounter when face to face with a live audience or group. The workshop will be practical, clear and task based and suitable for artists in every artform, from writers or musicians who perform for audiences to visual artists or anyone who has to present their work and their practice in front of an audience or peers. Be prepared to to share short autobiographical  intro and or/  description of your practice  (less than 1 minute). 

Declan Drohan – Bio

Declan has over 20 years experience in actor training and related teaching and consultancy. With a background in adult education ( H.Dip.Ad.Ed.) and M.A. in theatre studies he is currently a lecturer on BA performing arts @ IT Sligo and M.A. in Creative Practice. He has completed training in Michael Chekhov Technique with MCE in Zagreb, Hamburg, and Groznjan and is currently undertaking PhD research through Goldsmiths, University of London, into ‘ Staging the Intangible- Yeat’s plays and the Michael Chekhov Technique’.
