all-important opening chapters, characterisation, setting and plot, this seminar will provide an overview of the editing process, how to avoid common mistakes, and how different forms of writing might fit within the commercial world of publishing. Time will be allowed for Q & A.

Ciara Doorley is Editorial Director at Hachette Books Ireland. She commissions and edits a broad range of bestselling fiction including bestselling authors Emma Hannigan and Roisin Meaney and the acclaimed memoirs Staring at Lakes and Hanging with the Elephant.

Brian Langan is a freelance editor at Storyline Editing, with over two decades experience in publishing, most recently as editor at Transworld/Doubleday Ireland, an imprint of Penguin Random House, where his authors included Donal Ryan, Hilary Fannin, Colm O’Regan and Conor O’Clery. Brian is also a published author and is currently writing his second novel.
