Self Publishing Workshop: Vanessa Fox O’Loughlin, Adrian White & Helen Carr Saturday 9th February 2019: 1.30pm– 5.00 pm Ballinamore Library. Cost: Free to members of Creative Frame
In the last few years, print and digital self-publishing and the rise of social media have changed the face of publishing forever. Every aspiring author now holds the reins when it comes to his or her own published future; gone are the days of waiting on someone else’s “Yes” for your writing career to begin. That’s the good news. The bad news is that as self-publishing continues to grow easier, quicker and cheaper, this new, level playing field has become a noisy battleground where millions of books fight for readers’ attention.
To explore some of these issues, we are delighted to have invited a panel of professional s in this area. The format for the day will include a panel discussion followed by a Q & A session. We’ll cover why you should consider self publishing and the key points you need to think about before you decide to. The panel will discuss amongst many aspects what makes a successful self published book, what platforms and methods are available, editing, book covers/ISBN, whether bookshops are an option and how do you go about marketing your product and the difference between digital and print distribution. Chairing the panel will be Vanessa Fox Loughlin with Adrian White and Helen Carr.
Who should attend?
This informal and informative session is aimed at new and emerging writers, as well as established traditionally published authors who want to explore new avenues.
