The virtual studio tours give us a glimpse of the diversity and breath of creative practices of artists in the Creative Frame network and is a unique opportunity to hear a wide range of artists talk about their process and practice from the spaces in which they create.

For our first tour we will be going behind the scenes with Sean-nós dancer Edwina Guckian, sound artist Natalia Beyliss and writer Esther Hoad.

Natalia Beylis’ work revolves somewhere between sonic story-teller, composer and multi-instrumental musician. In her recordings and performances, she layers seemingly incongruous sounds atop of each other to spawn strange juxtapositions and garbled parallels. She regularly creates participatory sonic engagements through workshops and events. The Quietus described a recent album as “an exceptional release of instrumental incantations and explorations”. In addition to a busy performing schedule both with bands and as a solo performer she also runs a record label, Sofia Records, and is a regular contributor to Dublin Digital Radio where she explores the medium of radio as art.

Esther Hoad is a writer. Her writing has been published in the Leitrim Guardian, and online in Northwest Words Issue 12. She won the Leitrim Guardian Literary Award 2020 for her short story, Swimming Donkeys and, in 2015, she received their first prize for her poem, Atonement. Before Covid19, in February 2020, she was Overall Winner at the Dublin Story Slam. On International Women’s Day 2020, at The Dock, Carrick on Shannon, Esther read a commissioned piece for A Miscellany of Women’s Voices.

The studio tour up will take the form of  ZOOM video meeting. To participate you will need a laptop/desktop computer with a webcam  and a good internet connection (broadband or 4G). Once you have registered you will be sent a meeting ID and a Password.

This event for members of Creative Frame, a free network for full time professional artists of all disciplines in the North West of Ireland. If you are interested in learning more about the network visit https://www.creativeframe.eu
