For our first studio tour of 2022 we are delighted to be going behind the scenes with film maker Róisín Loughrey and writer Niamh Mc Cabe. The virtual studio tours give us a glimpse of the diversity and breath of creative practices of artists in the Creative Frame network and is a unique opportunity to hear a range of artists talk about their process and practice from the spaces in which they create.
Róisín Loughrey is an award-winning filmmaker and artist living in Manorhamilton, Co. Leitrim. Her film Fall Into Half-Angel won numerous awards including the Silver Dove at the Leipzig International Film Festival. She has screened her films at home and internationally, including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), New York; V&A Museum of Childhood, London. She has been on several national & international artist residencies and in 2013 she attained an MFA at the National College of Art & Design. Her film script Lullula (based on the award-winning short story by Sligo based writer Niamh McCabe) won the 2020 Screen Director’s Guild Award and is in pre-production. Róisín is currently Artist-in Resident at the Leitrim Sculpture Centre.
Niamh Mac Cabe is an award-winning writer living in Leitrim. She’s published in many journals and anthologies including Narrative Magazine, The Stinging Fly, Mslexia, Southword, Wasafiri, No Alibis Press, The Irish Independent, The London Magazine, Aesthetica, The Lonely Crowd, Lighthouse, Structo, Bare Fiction, tears-in-the-fence, and The Bristol Prize Anthology. Dublin-born, she grew up in Paris, in north-west Ireland, and in Washington DC, where she graduated from the Corcoran School of Art. She’s been twice nominated for a Pushcart Prize, selected for the Best British & Irish Flash Fiction list, nominated for Best Small Fictions, and awarded a Tyrone Guthrie Centre residency.
